PERUVIAN AUTHORITIES VISIT SINGAPORE TO STRENGTHEN COOPERATION IN ANTINARCOTIC MATTERS

From June 11 to 14, a study visit was made by a delegation of Peruvian officials from the National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (DEVIDA PERÚ), the Ministry of the Interior (Ministerio del Interior del Perú) and the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (SUNAT); to learn about the system adopted by Singapore on the fight against illicit drugs. This visit was organized by the "Central Narcotics Bureau" and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Singapore and had the support of the Embajada del Perú en Singapur / Embassy of Peru in Singapore.

The visit included an exchange of information on the legislation on the fight against illicit drugs in both countries, the control systems used at border points, research capabilities and strategies, and the social reintegration policies of drug dependents. The visit also served for strengthening relations between the institutions of both countries and facilitate joint efforts in the fight against narcotics.
